Hi,

got a problem here that I really hope I can get some help with.

Used my Audix M1290-HC With Chris Church cables for the first time a couple of days ago. (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=124072.0)

It looks like I've got a lot of cellphone statics on the recording.... Have done some testing @ home sending and reciving text messages from/with my cellphone and it seems like it's the 3,5mm plug that pics up the signals. Any idea what to do to avoid those statics?

Thanks!
/R.

I am curious about this also. I was thinking about getting this same setup.

If it is prone to cellphone static that would be a deal breaker.

Anyone else running church audix cables getting cellphone static?

I'd ask Chris first...

Well, you don't think I have...........??
Answer I got was to turn my cellphone off and it shouldn't be any problem. Maybe Chris is right here, but the main problem is that I would like to use the mics in a stealth situation and when doing a stealth recording you're often close to other people who have cellphones........

So I still have the same problem I guess.

Like I said turning your cell phone off would be a good start. You are the only customer to complain about this issue.. I have not had any other customer complain about this. I would say if you have your phone off unless your pressed up against another person using a phone it should not be an issue. Most mics are actually susceptible to this problem. Its a induction of a high power signal into the mic capsule it self.

This is a very good article that explains the problem. I am not suggesting you use aluminum foil... But as I stated distance does reduce the problem. So turn your phone off.... and hopefully it will not be an issue.

I always turn my phone off recording as I've had a bad experience before. You only get the static noise when cell phones are working on 2G(GSM) which thankfully is being phased out. Unfortunately at big gig's and festivals network congestion is a big issue which means lots of phones drop back to 2G, the good news is that it is only a short range distortion so I would recommend always ensure your phone is off while recording.

Thanks for the answers, I'll read the article and see what it says.
I always turn my cellphone off when recording (and did it this time as well), guess I must be unlucky this time. I'll use the setup quite soon again, hopefully I won't have the same problems again. I'll let you know.

I've never had the issue going Church cables>SPSB-10 bb>M10.  That's with the battbox in back jeans pocket, M10 in left jeans pocket, and iPhone/wallet in right jeans pocket.

If your phone and deck are in the same pocket, I'd suggest stopping that.  I leave my phone on during shows and never have issues.
