Topic: audio software for mac

I have made the switch to Mac! I need some help with audio software to help with working with my live recordings as well as the work to keep track of them. On Windows I used Audacity/Audition, foobar 2000, CD Wave, Trader's Little Helper and Where Is It? to catalog.

What are similar titles for me to look into - especially something like Where Is It? for me to catalog my DVD backups.

Audacity is multi-platform so if you like it now, no reason to switch. Also, if you set it up to drop track markers on sector boundries, you eliminate the need for a CD Wave replacement. Check out Songbird in place of foobar. I use flac on the command line but there is something that will flac your stuff for you. A lot of this was recently discussed in the Team Mac thread over on the team/group section, might want to buzz over there and see what others think.

It's on the official wiki somewhere, visually it's at the bottom where you see the time counters. Its better if you use the 1.3 beta though, the 1.2.6 instructions suck if I remember correctly.

I know you did not mention software for seeding, but I'll throw my two cents in!  I tried a few and found Transmission to be the best for seeding.  A very intuitive small, open source package that I had running in a few minutes.  I would stay away from Vzue. 

I use audacity as well and the xact software for the ffp files.  I do my converting with Roxio Toast Titanium 10, but I know there are free ware programs that can do the coverting as well.  Also, there is a flac converter for itunes if you want to use itunes for playback.

I am close to set - one quick question. I was a huge fan of foobar2000 and I can install on Mac but it is pretty choppy. Is there something free and with a low imprint for OS X?

Are you using it for playback? Try Cog (cogx.org) or Play (sbooth.org/play) for lightweight players.
