Topic: Simple M10 Question

I have a new M10 that I haven't used to record with yet, but I've played around with it.  Seems like every time I turn it on again, the date and time have reset and the screen default is to set these all over again, which is a PITA and shouldn't happen.  The batteries haven't been removed since the minute I opened it up brand new.  Anybody else having this issue?

Had my batteries out for at least 2 weeks and it kept the right date & time.

i have the same exact issue
99% of the time i have to reset the date and time
i did tape a show tonight though and its been 13 days since i turned it on last and the date was saved

tonedeaf and wilndmb, if I were you I'd contact Sony or the seller. It should hold the date/time.

have the two of you tried to re-install the firmware? truthfully, I don't even know if that is an option since sony may not have it out of the web, but I have only heard of will and tonedeaf reporting/asking/mentioning this issue.

call sony before the warranty expires!

Having the same problem as Steve.    Bought the M10 a month or so ago.  Haven't used in in the field yet but have used it for some tests around the house.  Each time the unit has sat for a couple of days the clock has to be reset.   

Pain in the ass but not a deal breaker for me as I don't want a refurb if I RMA it but sure would be nice to find a solution.


Anyone else?

FWIW, a visit to the Sony esupport website shows that there's no firmware for the M10 and there are no FAQs or anything else related to this.  I guess a message to Technical Support might be in order, but like you David it's not a deal breaker and I'm not sure I'd want to send my unit out just for this.  Still, it's a PITA especially given that I know there will be times when I'm running late for a show and on a critical schedule to get setup and this extra minute or two to get through this opening screen will mess me up from getting rolling on time.  Murphy's law has a way of rearing its ugly head in those moments.

anyone have any internal pics to see if there is some form of internal battery that may be dead..


/edit.. found a manual online page 17 states "If you leave the PCM recorder for approximately 3 minutes or longer, with no batteries inserted, the clock is reset to default settings."

Agreed. 

For me though the bigger issue rather than running late is the fact that the time stamp will be incorrect.  Can't tell you how many shows I have taped that i'd revisit to track weeks, months and years later and needed to identify the show by the date/timestamp.

Saw that but I haven't removed the functioning batteries at all in between uses.

Odd. I've just charged my batteries- they were out of the recorder for 15+ hours and the clock/date is correct.

the 3 minutes doesn't sound right to me but whatever
i never took my batteries out from the day i put them in - i used the ones that came in the box
so it seems there are 3 of us who have the reset clock issue :/
i too don't find it a big enough issue to send it back and funny the last 3 weeks it has stayed correct
