My MTII is getting much too little use, feel free to PM me an offer.

Roland R-09HR, but that isn't much of a digi-bucket, is it?

There are so many out there.

What are you feeding it with?

Digi out? or Digi in???  I'm not sure there are many cheapo decks with SPDIF Inputs...

If you need a Digi out, methinks the Sony D50 has an optical out???

If you want 24bits the Sony D50 has a optical digi in/out and I don't think there is another handheld with both digi in/outs out there at the moment.  Unless you want an H120, but the limits you to 16bits.

My fault, meant digi in as I use a ua5 so optical or coax would do. I don't care about 24 bit. I do like the idea of removable media tho.
Does the MTII use the same external voltage that the MTI used?

the D50 will only take a 16bit signal from the UA5, because the flag on the UA5 was created before the current industry standards.  You could grab a Marantz pmd 661 it has a digicoax in.  If you didn't like the first MT I don't think the MTII will impress you either.

How did I know you were talking about a microtrack before I looked at your the post?

Don't you mean digi in? The MT has a digi in but not a digi out.

A used R-09 has a digi out (but not in).

There are no really cheap bit buckets with a digi in but the MT's, unless you are good with 16 bit with optical input (Rockboxed iRiver H120/320 or a JB3).

If you just want 16 bit digi in, go with an iriver, they are popping up here all the time.
And if you can find the 'Recording Enhancement Pack' for Rockbox, load that up, it's pretty sweet.

The Sony PCM-D50 has an optical in, but not a digital out.

Get one anyway.  Best recorder that I have ever used.  Actually, you may just want to ditch the UA5, get a phantom power unit for the mics (like a PS-2), and then run line-in to the D50.  That way, you can record in 24 bits.  The Sony also has a good preamp and A/D converter.

The D50 does have an optical digital output!  You can look at this link it is clearly stated.

I thought the modded UA5s can output 24bit...you're saying it cannot???
