smart ftp timeout question

i used to use cute ftp to upload my shows to the archive, but i recently swtiched to smart ftp. the first show i tried uploading is getting timeouts/cutoffs.
here's the two errors i am getting...anyone know what i am doing wrong?:
A non-blocking socket operation could not be completed immediately.
Connection closed.
Timeout (no operation for 1200 seconds)
Connection closed.

I got timeouts all the time when up/downloading with smartftp. It took me about two days to upload a show to the archive as I would time out after 2 songs (thats why I've only uploaded one of the shows i've taped because its too much of a pain in the ass). I am using an older build of smartftp, do you have the newest build? If you are I'd say try another ftp.

WSFTP is good. It's old, but it has been very reliable for me, and faster than smartftp, cuteftp, coffeecupftp (I'm on dialup).
