Thanks to everyone who helped. I just tried to downgrade the firmware with a different SD card installed and it worked perfectly this time. Am very happy that I no longer can turn on the bright lights of the useless rehearsal mode by accident and that I can access the hidden menu.

Beware.
My recorder went crazy after I mess with this hidden menu sometime ago.
I had to turn the poor thing off for days, download a new firmware and only then things started to look normal again.
My conclusion: there is a good reason for this menu to be hidden. ;)

I assume you tried the factory reset first? That's supposed to reset any changes made.

Anyway, I don't have any worries about using it. I just use it to make a few simple changes like turning off the record light. There are lots of changes you could make that I have no clue what they are-I'd never fool with them.

You're a wise man. Stay away from them changes.
Yes, I tried the factory reset first. Still, the machine was really, really strange for a few days.
Take care.

Cool!  Glad to hear that finally worked out for you...
