PROBLEM: transfer DAT to HardDrive>speed problem
« on: July 31, 2011, 04:56:28 PM »
I am converting my DAT collection to HardDrive.  I use a Tascam DA-30 to USBPre-2 to MACPro (Audicity). I've done 100's of DAT without a problem.  This DAT was recorded 16/44.1 (so says the Tascam DA-30).  When I record it on Audacity that is set to 16/44.1, Audacity records the music about 6 seconds per minute slower that the Tascam DA-30.  When I listen to the newly recorded music on Audacity, the pitch is higher than the original on the DAT.  ANY SUGGESTIONS???  I can't figure this one out.  Thankyou in advance...  Joe Ray Skrha   at:  joeray@alaska.net

it's most likely a sample rate issue.  the DAT is probably 48 kHz, and audacity thinks it is 44.1 kHz.  It should be an easy fix.  You just need to fix the file header to be 48 kHz instead of 44.1 kHz.
