Stand for Church Audio mics?
« on: October 12, 2011, 09:39:46 AM »
I've been using my CA-14s for a while now, and they work pretty well, and I really like how they (with the CA-9100 and my JB3) make for a very small rig. I'm thinking of going to Europe next year (for Jam In The Dam and then some of the moe. shows that follow it), but don't have a stand that'd be suitable. It wouldn't need to be especially sturdy, but would need to collapse down to fit into a small duffel bag and be light enough to lug around as part of the luggage for a week-long trip through airports and around Europe. Does anyone have any suggestions? (For my Oktava>UA-5>JB3 rig, I use a light stand that collapses down to 3', and is intended to hold lights and things, which is beefier than I need.)

Aloha,
Brad

You could consider a Manfrotto detachable base with some combo of extension bars - the Manfrotto 099B plus another one that's a bit shorter.

Plus the Manfrotto 099B will get you a lot of height and a collapsible rig.  Not terribly stable, but fine for really light mics.  I use mine in clubs where I'm up against a wall and can tape the pole to the wall, but want it to be really flat.  My buddies and I have even run 414s, fullsize Schoeps AND a set of mk41s on it at the same time...

If the 099B is too long, just get one or more shorter bars and you can still get over 7ft of height.
