Just from the quick description it looks like a very cool piece of gear; I'm sure it's probably capable of quite a lot.  The only thing that makes me nervous is the "Tascam" label on it. :)

I wish they had used TRS like the Alesis instead of the breakout cables.  I think breakouts are good for a studio install but to set up and tear down night after night  I dunno.  But then I've never used anything with the DB25 style either

25 pin is a locking connector, TRS is friction only. If I bought one, I'd be installing it in a ATA roadcase with UPS, rack drawer Keyboard and Monitor, and a backplane with XLR inputs. 48 XLR inputs is only 4 rack units of panel. I'd also consider adding a Whirlwind MASS connector to take a split from a snake head or dedicated splitter rack.  Another idea would be to build the transformer isolated splits in the same case.

I take it that the times are for disk space and not battery run times.
