the idea is to remove the "internals" with some proper ones.

Yeah, I already guessed that, but that doesn't mean I can't ask myself about how good will those caps be, does it? :P

Nevertheless, it's really hard to get mic caps here in Spain, so that would be a difficult task to me. There's always online shopping though.

I actually posted this as a joke. I can just see somebody with one of these on running to their iPhone trying to record a show. Cheap mic + bad placement + cheap pre + bad recorder + MP3 = trash

there are cheap straw cowboy hats at walmart.  some might call it a "fishing hat," usually worn outside in the summer.  its not all that conspicuous at outdoor or country shows.
