I have certainly appreciated the great work of tapers and have committed myself to getting an audience taping rig this year. I was going to approach this more methodically and do more homework but there's a show tonight where I have good access to the sound board and even some help from the sound guy.

Here is what I've got:
  • MacBook 5,2 2GB Ram
  • Garageband
  • Reaper installed
  • Access to a PreSonus Firebox-I will download the drivers, sound guy has cables

My goal is to capture the show from the sound board and track it out later.

Advice I seek: Ideal settings on Garageband and/or Reaper, any other hints for the best quality recording. Any need to save every so often or is this somewhat automatic.

As I shared, I'm hopping into this feet-first and hoping that I can get some feedback quickly. I will browse the forums and web.

Thanks in advance,

Off to the show. Garageband looks easier with which to work. May need help tracking in out after. We do have a taper community around here that is quite helpful as well.
