XLR connection for contact mics
« on: February 02, 2012, 06:12:01 AM »
I've noticed 1/4 jacks for use with contact/hydrophone mics, is it OK to wire up XLR as an alternative?

If the mic is high output impedance (most contact mics will be), then you need to feed it into a high input impedance amp.  This is why 1/4" connectors are used.

sorted, thx  ;)
