M10 error, can not read wavefile correct
« on: May 07, 2012, 12:58:58 PM »
Recorded a gig last week and I seem to have some problem with the wav files on my M10.

I recorded Mixpre-d > M10 (line in, 24bit/96khz). When i listen back to the recording it plays fine. When i copied it to the PC and load it into wavlab problems accure.

At first Wavelab starts asking questions, about the format and stuff but there is no way i can select 24bit/96khz. Which is in all strange as i always just drop my files into wavelab and it works.

Second, when I play the file in VCR (or mediaplayer for that matter), the first few seconds play fine, than the whole thing starts peeping and bleeping.

I can however, convert the wavfile to flac and than it plays fine. It is also possible to convert if back from Flac to wav.

What happened here? And what is the best way to do?

right, will see if i can find about that.

Is that something that accures all the time? Or just by accident?

hmmmm sounds bad than.

Setup was Mix-pre-D > line-in > M10. Recording itself was near clipping and hard bass (it was test-situation at festival), but i assume this has nothing to do with this problem. If someone else also has this problem, lmk.

First issue I read about with an M10.
Theoretically it could be media-related.
Header-issues are relatively easy to fix as you found out with the flac workaround.

So maybe test the card for media errors?

There's a thread here with utilities to fix .wav headers. This post is comprehensive, but look up and down the thread for more.

Thanks for the link!

The card i use is a TDK 16gb (Life on Record). Maybe the card is a bit to big? I read something about the R44 giving errors caused by cards with to much gb. The manual (from the r44) says it accepts op to 8gb. With 16gb it needs 'spins' slower', uncapable of writing things good. Maybe this is also a problem with the Sony?
