good nero 11 tutorial?
« on: July 22, 2012, 11:40:11 AM »
This is pretty embarrassing, but I can't figure out how to transfer wav. from my marantz 661 onto my laptop and into nero wav. editor, in order to create cds. Anyone know of a really good tutorial that can walk me through the whole thing? Can't seem to pull up a decent one googling.

thanks all. Hey, at least I'm off DAT. But it'd be nice to actually transfer recordings.  :P ::)

Miss you guys all the time, Dave.

Right now, I'm the Obi-Wan of nothing. the problem is very basic for me-I'm dropping the flash card into the laptop slot ( I wonder if I'd have better luck connecting the 661 via usb?), and having trouble even figuring out how to save it to the hard drive. When I think I have that figured out, I can't get a file from the wav. editor over to the nero burning rom-seriously, stuff your average 4 year old could do, like figuring out how to track the file and split the wav. into two parts so I can make discs. Very sad. I may need to troll outside the local elementary school to find a kid who can teach me.  :P

Sounds like you need to work on a few basic windows file management concepts first...(this is what I think when I hear people referencing "getting files from one program into another program")

The files are always in the same place - you just open them with different programs.

And if you use a bit more standard software choice - like CDWave for tracking - you'll find a lot more helpers here - over Nero which I suspect few use for anything but burning CDs.

These folks make some good tutorials, not sure if they have what you're looking for but take a look...

http://www.groove3.com/str/

As far as 661 recording and file transfers, I recommend formatting your SDHC card in the 661 and creating a separate folder for each show, then record your shows in their respective folders.  It's recently been discovered that folks on Unix/Linix/OS X systems and who haven't done this are recording to the default folder which is hidden from these OS's.  It's because of the naming scheme of the default folder containing a [.] as the first character.  If you've already recorded in the default folder and are using one of these OS's you could create a new folder in the 661 and move your files to it or rename the default folder getting rid of any [.] in the folder name.  IDK how renaming the default folder might affect operation of the 661 however.  I've never had a problem myself with 661 and OSX but I've always used this workflow from day one.

Congrats on stepping up to a 661 from DAT.  I'd recommend you read through all the following threads for questions that have already come up and been answered regarding the 661, it'll save you asking redundant questions...
