I leave the files on my jb3 until i've finished tracking and all other post stuff that was needed. Flac or Shn the finished product, burn a copy of the compressed files, and burn an the wav's for stereo listening. Then I'll can the files on the jb3...

I transfer to PC for editing and buring.  Then burn the "master" and the 44.1 tracking to DVD-R (along with the photo's I always take too, if there's room).  DVD-R goes in the phile cabinet.

[1] copy from JB3 to PC to edit and burn audio discs until I...
[2] archive to FLAC CD / DVD after which I...
[3] upload to archive.org / bluegrassbox.com or distribute "publicly"

So, in the end, I have 3 copies available to me:

[a] WAV CDs for playback
FLAC copy as backup
[c] off-site archive at online storage sites or within the taping/trading community

i do exactly what skalinder does, except, if i record in 48k, which i always do, then i FLAC the 48k copy too, so i have

1. 48k FLAC copy
2. 44.1k tracked FLAC copy
3. WAV copy to listen to

i usually downsample the 48k file to 44.1k and do the editing/splitting.  then i distribute that.  i also keep the cue sheet from cdwav.  After i'm done distributing, if its a good show i burn myself and my friends copies.  after that i usually delete the 44.1k files and just burn the 48k file, the info txt, and the .cue sheet and burn them all to dvd-r.  i have a computer at my listening station so i can just play the 48k files off the dvd-r.

Because nothing says "I have lots of money and am sort of confused as to how to spend it" like Bose.
