Post Festi-Season Stand Maintenance
« on: September 14, 2012, 04:23:34 PM »
Last used my old Bogen 3078 13ft Master ALU Stand and 154 Triple Microphone Bar a month ago...It was used outdoors and saw a few rain storms...Today I pulled the 154 Triple bar out and noticed a white residue where the Brass Stud goes into the Cast Aluminum holder...also the Thumbscrews were not free turning...

I pulled out the WD40 and a old rag...went outside to the drive way and soaked the Screws, studs and bar...noticed a lot of grit on the old Stand so it got a lubrication & scrubbing too...the corrosion issues were where two types of metal came together...Steel Screw to Aluminum holder...Brass Stud to Aluminum holder

Your Stand and Triple Bar may not be pushing 20years like mine...but I hope to be using them for a while longer

Tri-Flow is way better than WD-40
http://www.triflowlubricants.com/Tri-Flow_Superior_Drip_Lubricant.html

it has the drip applicator to get it right where you need  it, instead of over-spraying...

You can also use armor all, on the stand and plastic collars, it will hap to keep up the sheen.
