Nagra Pico
« on: October 10, 2012, 08:15:40 AM »
Look what seems to have appeared on the Nagra site:
http://nagraaudio.com/pro/pages/products_nagra_PICO.php

Small recorder 2ch- similar specs to Sony PCM-M10 and silly long (40hr) battery life. 3V pip on mic in (1/8" minijack)  No external card options but 4GB internal memory.

Don't know the price- would expect it to be more than similar prducts though, but would expect better quality.  Doesn't look as rugged as the Nagra SD

Looks like it is 16 bit, 48 kHz only.

Doubt you'll get more than 96dB dynamic range (16bit) off other recorders in that price range anyway.   Nagra (Pico and SD)  90dB EIN, PCM-M10 -93dB EIN:  http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=140954.0

Cool - the lino is a copy of the R-09.  How quaint.

best post in this thread so far.

The Lino has the same dynamic range spec as well.
"This is a common practice we have on the bus; debating facts that we could easily find through printed material. It's like, how far is it today? I think it's four hours, and someone else comes in at 11 hours, and well, then we'll... just... talk about it..." - Jeb Puryear

The Nagra Lino looks more interesting :)

Looks like a down-rated Nagra SD with fixed mics.

Big Problem of the Lino: no big difference to the m-10 and i don't see anything special (besides Nagra printed on it) like a really good Mic preamp or how much PIP it provides.
and battery runtime on the M10 much longer.

2015 rig: CA-11 -> CA-9100 -> PCM-M10
2016 rig: Sony PCM-M10 + SP-SPSB-4 microphone plug-in power supply +  SP-CMC8 with Low Sens mod
[backup: CA-9100 - Tascam DR-05 Firmware 2.0 + Yamaha Pocketrak W24]
video 2016: Casio EX-100 HS (same as Olympus Stylus1 - but much smaller - japan import not availiable in EU)

The PICO, £189 + vat in the UK??!!

"Hello Richmond Film Services...?!"

that's amazing- got to be the cheapest bit of Nagra gear ever made! I think I'll go for that actually; I've been thinking about a smaller carry EVERYWHERE stand-in machine. Shame about the 16bit though.

It'd be nice to get a cost on the LINO...
