Edirol R-09 + power supply help for a newbie
« on: March 11, 2013, 01:48:13 AM »
Hi, thank you for the help ahead of time.
I plan on recording some upcoming shows and am quite new to this.  I have an Edirol R-09 plus SP-BMC-3 mics and a SPSB-11 external power supply.  I am having trouble trying to figure out either how to use the power supply or Edirol.  I have batteries already in the Edirol and using those alone I can get it to work just fine.  I am lost on how to get the external power (SPSB-11) to work so I can go out and record with enough battery life.  I know this comes off as a lame question but can anyone help me on either where it's suppose to go into (all I see is a mic jack, Line-in and headphone jack) or where I'm suppose to go into the menu of the Edirol so it will take the external power or if I'm doing something wrong with the SPSB-11.  any help would be great!
Thanks!

(I have only Edirol of your gears.)
What is the certain problem, no signal at all?
Do you have new batteries in the SP-SPSB-11?

Just plug in the mics into the SP-SPSB-11 and the external power into the input of the Edirol and NOT into the Mic In if you tape loud music.
Is input level set on Edirol?
AT853uw mics / ca-14 (omni/card)+ ca-9200 preamp
Edirol R-09HR / Tascam DR-2d
Canon Legria HF S20

Have you taped any Hungarian band? Please contact me! :)

Not sure if you have a misconception...but even with the battery box, you still need to have batteries in the Edirol.  The battery box doesn't power the recorder.

Thanks for the help to both of you.  I did have batteries in the Edirol.  I just switched the batteries inside the Edirol and more importantly the battery inside the battery box, which was new, was a dud.  Earlier today I got a new battery for that and it seems all is working well.  Thanks again
