Anyone here taping with DPA4088?
« on: March 14, 2013, 08:00:07 AM »
Anybody here taping shows with DPA4088?
I'm using DPA4061s since 2003 (almost any kind of music from jazz do death metal), really pleased by the results but sometimes I need cardioids. Would the 4088s be a good choice? I'd keep the same MPS6030 battery box...
I need small mics so I can keep on putting them on my glasses. Bigger mics would cause more troubles.

Any feedback would be really appreciated. Cheers guys!

*Really* poor bass response for far field.

DPA4061 HEB -> R-09 / AT943 -> CA-UGLY -> R-09
AKG CK63 -> nBob actives -> Baby NBox -> R-09/DR2d
AKG CK63 -> AKG C460B -> Zoom F8/DR-680MKII
Line Audio CM4/Superlux S502/Samson C02/iSK Little Gem/Sennheiser E609/Shure SM57 -> Zoom F8/DR-680MKII (multitracked band recordings)

The DPA 4098h is likely to be a much better candidate for this application.  It is designed as a hanging choir mic, used at more of a distance than the 4088 and has much less roll-off.  It will have nowhere near the bass response of the 4061 omni however.

I have not tried them but would like to.  I'd probably use them in combination with 4060 or 4061.
