Reaper help (4 channel, 744t)
« on: April 06, 2013, 12:27:52 PM »
I recorded a show the other night via 744t. I thought I had the files set to record to mono but they ended up being poly. After I transferred the files to my computer and loaded them in Reaper, I noticed that each wav file has all the tracks together (meaning tracks a, b, c, d are all in one single file). How do I split/separate these up? Thanks.

There are a bunch of ways. (Imtyping on a tablet so my appologies for the brevity):

1) add all your files to a single track.
2) duplicate the track to the appropriate number. Now you have 4 tracks with multiple channels in each from the poly file.
3) on each track, select each file added and double click (or open item properties); about midway down the resulting window is an option which sets stereo, reversed, and mono for each channel. Repeat this process for each track.

If you need more info, i can post something when i get home to my workstation.

Have you tried opening the file in the Sound Devices wave agent software?

EDIT: Just to add, I haven't tried this, but it says that it can "split polyphonic WAV files to monophonic WAV files"

Haven't used Wave Agent yet but I got it figured out thanks to Page. His method worked just fine.
