Mount a Oktava 319 to a tent options
« on: July 09, 2013, 05:14:32 PM »
I would like to investigate my options for mounting the Oktava before I receive it.

A band that allows me to tape usually has one of those plastic-poled tents covering the soundboard area for rain\sun protection during shows.
I was thinking of mounting the 319 to the horizontal post that would be right above them to avoid getting it bumped by people.
But that would require some pretty long extension cables. (Unless they are ok with the cable coming down in front of them).

What have people done in similar circumstances?
Is this usually a DIY project or are there 'kits'

I seem to recall clamps being discussed here not too long ago.

thanks in advance

The CLAMP thread should help you with that aspect. As far as your cable question:
You can never go wrong with an extra set (or two) of cables. We have a set of 25 footers on top of the cables kindms has permanently attached to his rig (maybe another 25 feet?). I used to carry another set of 50 footers just in case you have to make a very long run. Since you already know the setup of their tent , you could figure the actual footage and have one of the cable makers on the TS make them "to fit" for you.
Have some fun with  those mics! kindms LD mics are fun to run and that LD sound can be very pleasant!
music IS love

When you get confused, listen to the music play!
