Anyone familiar with Audix ADX40 mics?
« on: September 26, 2013, 09:37:50 AM »
My local music store is knocking these out at half price at the moment and I am considering picking up a pair.

Anyone here using them? I am currently using CA14 mics for  >:D which I love but I am wondering would the Audixs be a step up?

Cheers.

mics  - CA11 (c & o) CA14 (c & o)
pre - CA9200, CA9100
recorders - Edirol R09hr, Tascam DR1

Which version of this mic are they offering? There is the Cardioid and HyperCardioid version.

I am familiar with this mic and I guess it would depend on how you intend to use it in order to answer your question?

If for possible live or room recording and not to be used specific to vocal or an instrument overhead I would suggest the Audix M1280's or M1255's

I am running a pair of adx40 sometimes. Bought them from the yard sale. You must understand that these microphones have a very pronounced high frequency bump and the low end starts to roll off at around 200Hz IIRC. I like them, works well for my uses!

Here's a few video clips I've made with them (no eq have been used).
