so im getting some akg's     would a UA5  be the best thing for me to get??
that will power my mics right?  does it do anything eles??

"Best thing" is subjective and depends greatly on how much money you have.  What kind of AKG's?  All of your questions about the UA-5 can be answered by reading the FAQ for it in the archival section.
