I like that they are multicodec and have coaxial out. Can they be Rockboxed?

why would you need it to be "rockboxed?"

Did some more reading on these last evening. Had no idea how high end an item these were...the 5x is really sweet.

Upon first glance, I thought there was a possible recorder application.  Very cool players.

I really like my X3 the extras on the x5 didn't warrant the higher price tag for me.

Aside from the digi out, why not just use an M10?

I had an x3, thought it sounded too cold/sterile so I returned it.

Is the x3 still limited to 64g cards or has a firmware update fixed that?

I have an X1 and X3.  Like them a lot.  The interface on the ipod is still better, but I just load shows and full albums on these players, so they work just fine.

I just checked these out last night. The x5 has [2] micro SD card slots, and you can put up to 128GB cards in EACH slot. 256GB in a small, portable Hi-Res auido player? Um, FUNK YEAH lol ;D 8) I might get a Fiio X1 like Ted was selling yesterday, just to get me started. I'm sick of itunes mainly, and just want something simple I can just drag/drop files into, rather some other proprietary shit like itunes again :P 8)

Anyone want to buy my 160GB iPod Classic for a fair price? Yes, I'm dead serious ;)

I just jumped in the pool and bought an x3 because of the digital out, which the x1 lacked. Now I don't have to convert down to my sansa clip and can go to a dac when visiting friends.
