Thought I would share a DIY project I did a while ago but have not used in the field yet.
I wanted to find a way to use split omnis up to 6ft but have it still be portable.
I found a light weight telescoping rod online that was reasonably priced.
http://www.buddipole.com/lotewh.htmlI cut it down once I got it so it would be no longer than 6 feet fully extended.
I wanted to use shock mounts to hold a pair of actives so I bought two replacement 5/8" stud for this clamp:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/712234-REG/On_Stage_TM01_TM01_Microphone_Table.htmlOne fit in the fatter end of the pole nicely while the other stud had to have it's non-threaded end ground down to fit the more narrow end of the telescoping rod.
I then added some epoxy to the non-threaded end of both studs and inserted into the pole.
Pics on stand just to see how it much would bend with weight on both ends.
(just some empty XLR cables since I dont yet have my second untethered set of actives just yet).
First field test in a couple of weeks.
As long as my actives arrive...
Will update the post after.
