I have a ton of 16 and 8mm stuff that I'd like to do something with - sooner than later.

Any experience with these guys?

I've never used these guys, so I can't say I have experience with them.  But I've done a lot of research on the subject and like most things ... there are cheap (low-quality) ways of doing things - and expensive (high-quality) ways - and a lot of variations in between.

Digitizing film at the consumer level has really taken off in recent years.  There are systems that capture every frame in high quality and produce some really stunning results - to include captures that render 720p and 1080p HD video.

Depending on the amount of film you have, you might want to consider buying your own capture device.  It will cost a chunk, but might be cheaper than paying a service to do it.  And after you're done - you still have the capture device and could do captures on the side for other people and it could pay for itself.
