I own two of these units, and the only time I’ve ever seen this error message was when there was a compatibility issue with the SD card being used. Interestingly, if I remember correctly, the SD cards were ones with higher speed ratings. I’ve come to the conclusion that faster write speeds don’t automatically equate to smoother data transfer rates in audio steaming applications. Controller compatibility is much more important.  I always do a “stress” test on any new card before mission critical recording sessions.

Interesting. The SD card in use that day was, to my memory, the only one I’ve ever used with my DR-100. So certainly no compatibility issues in the past, unless something has corrupted on the card since my last use. What’s been your experience with loss of data when you see that write error? I still haven’t found anything wrong with the files where I got the message.

It’s been a while since those occurrences, but as I recall, I had one file that was corrupted, but recoverable with software. The couple others had small gaps of a few samples, some audible, most not. Once I figured out the cards that were at fault, I stopped using them and the problem went away. Now, I use Sandisk Extreme 150MB/s 64 GB (not because of their speed, but because they record reliably and were inexpensive).
As to your existing SD card, if it’s been used a lot, I’d run it through the SD Association SD card analyzer (https://www.sdcard.org) to check its health and do a deep reformat.
