how to rotate a video clip without having the top and bottom reduced

hello there, im trying to rotate 3 pieces of a 5 piece vedeo hut when i do this it cuts off half of the artists head  and proberly alittle on the bottom too.i have CYPERLINK POWER DIRECTOR 14. when i go from 16×9 to 4×3 its alittle better but still cut..is there a way to keep the original size when rotating?thanks for any assistance..scott

While recording the video I move the camera from Long Way to the short way 3 times so I need to rotate three parts of that video 90 degrees to the left and when I do that the tops and bottoms are cut...maybe i should try that again and see if its cut in the preview if there is one to view before saving

Are you saying that you rotate your camera 90 degrees in the middle of shooting video?

Yes that's what I did,last year in Nashville unfortunately,when I played it back it, was sideways and then up right when I moved it back and sideways and upright and sideways and upright three times.so i did a multi trim 90% but the tops are cut off

Or you can have it play like it's in portrait mode with large black rectangles on each side.

Look at the top image I posted - it shows a portrait shot cropped to fit a landscape wide angle shot.  I'm just guessing on the percentage, but it looks like around 70% of the picture gets chopped off in order to crop it to fit the picture.

i wouldn't do this and I don't think it would fix the issue anyway. If I understand right, he has video that's filling the screen but not in the right direction. Cropping it would just take a portion of the screen and end up making it worse.

How long is the video?
It is poss that you could drop box it to me and I could do it in Final Cut Pro for you then send it back

He already said he turned his camera 90 degrees.  So yes, there is a full screen of video, but it appears in the video editor sideways.  The only way to fix that and still fill the screen is to rotate 90 degrees.  When you do that, however, it's only going to take up a small portion of the screen - unless you letterbox it (crop it) - which is essentially zooming in on a small portion of the original video.

I actually had this experience once when someone took a point and shoot camera, turned it 90 degrees, and shot video.  I guess this guy was thinking that shooting video is like shooting photos and you can just turn the camera and shoot video in what amounts to  portrait mode.  Here is a humorous take on what happens when you do this.

the late nite jam video is about 20 minutes and 2.2 gb
