Sony PCM-M10 Remote Port

I was wondering if the remote port on the Sony PCM-M10 can be used as lanc port? The PCM-M10 comes with a remote that has a 2.5mm/TRRS connector. Lanc cables tend to be 2.5mm/TRS types from what I can tell. Does anyone know if it's possible?
