Sonic Studio DSM-6/L?

are these good for recording wise? I have herd some snippets from these mics and I think they are good. but are there better mics out there for $450?

They can be great in the hands of a good taper and can be shit in the hands of a shit taper.  I guess this applies to all mics but I have taped about 50 shows with the sonics and found it applies especially to these.

I believe the AT853Rx mics (phantom powered, of course) are suprior in most (not all) situations, and can be had for over $100 less.

sonics are worth every penny you put into it.  if you want them for cheaper than what lombardo sell em for buy them used.  ppl put them up on dat-heads every so often.

yeah i was tainting an ss thread by asking about the ats.  ive seen those cmc4s ... and that what i was looking at.  i just wasnt sure if the AT853Rx were any different from the SP model.

yes, they are.  The Ats are phantom powered and the SPs are battery powered, but you can mod either of them to work of both, or the other
