Apple's $130 USB C Cable.  Yep, $130 for 2 meters, as opposed to $12 for a similar Amazon Basic's cable or $3 for a budget cable

It can be.  Depends on what its connected to on the other end.  My iPhones all have thunderbolt cables, but with a USB C going into the computer or charger.

Sounds like you are confusing Thunderbolt and Lightning ("very very frightening") connectors. No iPhone has a Thunderbolt connector, iPhones 5 through 14 have a Lightning connector, iPhone 15 has a USB-C.

no that’s lightning. thunderbolt is usbc+a much more complex interface that extends the pci bus

I don't cheap out on charging cables anymore. There was a time I would buy these knock off cables and some would work, others not. In the end I was paying as much as if I were to buy from Apple or someone else. At least I know they would work with my devices.
