Whats up w/ this lineage?
« on: June 15, 2004, 11:36:33 PM »
I was just wonderin' why this taper of this show has two sources of phantom power for his Oktava MC012? I thought the UA-5 has the max (48v) of phantom so why does he need a Deneke PS2 also?
Here is the lineage I am reeferin' to and also the show in question:
Source: matched Oktava MC012(Hypers DIN)> Deneke PS2> Edirol UA-5 (Oade digi-mod)>Nomad JB3 (optical in) .wav @44.1

Could be the phantom is broken on the UA5?  I'm kinda wondering the same thing tho. ;)

Maybe he had accidentally turned the phantom off one too many times and wanted something more reliable???

that makes sense to me, from what I've heard about those switches.
I haven't managed to turn the grace power off yet, but I have applied hpf a few times while adjusting levels.

but I have applied hpf a few times while adjusting levels.

I sorta did this just recently at the steel drum band opening up for Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, though I didn't apply it while adjusting levels.  I must've switched it to HPF1 in my bag somehow and didn't notice it until most of the way through the opening set.  Doh!

Yup, I've fat-fingered my V2 a couple of times when I was in a rush. The lesson, as always, get there early!
