Auray windscreens
« on: June 07, 2025, 09:12:20 AM »
These look interesting: https://www.aurayaudio.com/product/15657/Auray-WSW_VMICRO-Windbuster-for-Rode-VideoMicro,-VideoMic-Me_L-and-VideoMic-Me_C-with-Rycote-Lyre-Shockmount

Looking for a small fur for my chopped Nak 700's. The 700's are only around a half inch in diameter and 2 inches long. Add a mic clip to that and not much room for a windscreen. I've owned chopped 700's on and off for a very long time and want to do this recent pair right. Had a Shapeways mount made. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

I don't have any experience with the Auray windscreens, but I've worked with the MOVO WST-50 windscreens on many occasions, as have others on the forum.
I just ordered another pair for my new Line Audio CM4 mics and MOVO seems to have changed the dimensions since my last purchase, several years ago.
I've attached two photos showing the older, larger windscreen, and the newer, smaller windscreen.  Insertion depth on the larger model is 2-5/8", while the smaller new version is 2-1/4".  Both are model "WST50", and designed for mics with diameters 18-24 mm.
I'm guessing that you might want to order both and see which one fits and performs best with your Naks.

WST50 come in different lengths. Are you sure the same size was ordered?

Thanks for the correction goodcooker. I saw the size dropdown and didn't catch that the product number changed.

WST50 is one size. The longer models the number gets higher - WST100 for 3" coverage up through WST320 for 12" long for shotguns.

Got the Aurays linked above. Great quality. A tad smaller than the Movo 50's, so better fit on the chopped Naks. 👍
