Naiant Studio closing in 2026?
« on: June 11, 2025, 04:55:53 PM »
I was browsing the Naiant site today as I am in the market for some active cables/PFAs, and I noticed this note on the homepage:

Quote
This 20th anniversary year will be the final for Naiant Studio. The Naiant Reverb store will reopen on July 5, and sales of stock products will continue to be listed as produced.

The last day for custom orders will be May 31, 2026.

Warranty and repair service will continue to be available for the foreseeable future.

This note appears to be relatively new; the last snapshot of the homepage on the Wayback Machine is from April, and it isn't there.

I searched and didn't find any discussion about this, so I thought I'd make this PSA as it seems highly relevant to our interests!

I read this as he is ending sale of custom orders, but is still selling his products.  But then says that items not listed can still be custom ordered.  Not sure if he'll be cutting back production, but this seems like a way to streamline production.

Naiant products are now built for stock, and sold via Reverb when available (shipping to US only). Products not listed on Reverb may be custom ordered with two to four week build time.

Current products are:

X-R, X-8S, and X-X microphones
IFA, ITA, MPD, PFA, and VPD inline devices.

I read that as next year he is closing up shop entirely and until then he's selling his basic inline devices at Reverb and doing custom orders until his cutoff of May 31st, 2026.

Hi Bob, I retired last year and no longer do that type of work. It's possible to release the XLR connector without replacing the jack. I don't know anyone other than Tascam who would do that work.
good luck....Doug

This is an email I got back from doug over the weekend, I thanked him for all he had done for the taping community. Carlos Oade told me Doug's back and his hands made work impossible. Bob

Ordered about 2 weeks ago.

If you want PFAs built hit him up.

Just chiming in here to say what a huge contribution Jon has made to the live recording community. Products I've purchased from him have included X-Q omni mics, PFAs and extension cables for DPA 4061s, and a tinybox. I hope he enjoys his well-earned retirement!

X2.  I was fortunate to be able to visit him a couple times at his home/workshop/studio when he was living on the North Carolina outer banks.  Great guy, super smart, his heart in the right place.  I miss his posts here at TS and wish him all the best.
