Last August I bought an S22 Ultra (512gb) listed "for parts" off Ebay for $265.  I got it expressly for the camera and video capabilities (10x zoom, no file size limit).  I didn't care that the telecommunication or whatever didn't work (it does connect to wifi).  Maybe I got a rare deal, but it doesn't hurt to check what's out there.

The samsung s23 ultra is a phone and doesn't have a time limit to film in 4k. Picture and sound quality are good. Zoom is optical in settings: 0.6; 1; 2; 3: 10 times.

Unfortunately they are also 800 bucks, which is way past my budget.

Mics: DPA 4061, AT953, Schoeps MK4, Shure MV88
Preamps/BB: SP-SPSB-10, Nbox, tinybox, ST-9100, CA-UGLY
Recorders: In use--Teenage Engineering TX6, Tascam DR-2d, Sony PCM-A10, Zoom L-20R; collecting dust--Sony M10, Ediirol R-09, Zoom H4n, Zoom H6, Cymatic LR16
Video: In use--Panasonic VX981, Panasonic ZS100, GoPro Hero 12, DJI Osmo Pocket 3; collecting dust--Sony HDR-CX520V, Sony HX9V, Panasonic ZS3/ZS7

Have you considered purchasing a used camcorder? I used to shoot with a Sony HDR-XR150. It's pretty old (2010) but it records at 1080i to a 120GB hard drive. It can also record on to an SD card.

It's reasonably small, fits nicely into your hand and comes with 25X optical zoom.

There are plenty on eBay at around the $120 mark.

It will be a big improvement over what you currently have.

If you are on a budget take a look at the Canon HF R series of video cameras. They can be had used for less than $100 and don't have any file size limitations that I'm aware of. I never ran into a problem shooting an entire set with an R100. It struggled a little in very low light and the image stabilization had some issues when there was a really wild light show but otherwise it did great for a cheap camcorder.

No one has mentioned the Lumix ZS100 yet. It has a run time limit on it that can be hacked for unlimited. It is fantastic quality for the cost. I got mine for $250 gently used.
I have two r300 and love them for the cost to benefit ratio
Has mic in too
Mics - AKG ck61/ck63 (c480b & Naiant actives), SP-BMC-2
XLR Cables - Silver Path w/Darktrain stubbies
Interconnect Cables - Dogstar (XLR), Darktrain (RCA > 1/8) (1/8 > 1/8), and Kind Kables (1/8f > 1/4)
Preamps - Naiant Littlebox & Tinybox
Recorders - PCM-M10 & DR-60D

Do you have any concert footage shot using this setup available on YouTube?

What sort of stabilisation do you use? I imagine it would be hard to hold a phone steady for whole show.

I'm not who you were asking, but the way I do it is I clamp it to my stand if I'm open taping using this

I haven't been keeping the best track of what I shoot with iPhone 15/16 Pro vs Samsung S22 Ultra.  But these three I'm sure I shot with S22 Ultra:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqML3QiYaIA  (arena, side stage, fairly close)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRUehaDjHlM  (stadium, from a good distance)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqVI1bb-rrE  (club setting)

Note that I used external audio for all of these.  However the S22U has decent audio; you can configure it to use the rear mic only and set the level so you don't get distortion.

The above were all handheld.
I've been using the Insta360 Flow Pro (gimbal) for stabilization with iPhone 15 Pro Max.  Also works with Android--I got a MagSafe case for my S22U so it can be attached to the gimbal--however the functionality is limited (e.g. can't zoom like you can with iPhone).

Addendum:
Here is video #1 with the native S22U audio, for comparison.

Used GH4 is under 400.  Then pick up a 20mm fixed lens for 100.

Used Panasonic GH4.  It's not hard.  As for your $99 special.  Oh fuck NO.

Unfortunately I don't have an extra 800 bucks (+ whatever it would cost for a lens) just lying around. And the $99 one I was actually pretty pleased with the quality, it's just the fact it breaks files up that bothers me.
