Tekkeon MP3450 battery
« on: July 18, 2025, 06:45:49 PM »
Hi,
After MANY years I pulled my recording gear out of the bag and was checking things out. Guessing the Tekkeon MP3450 battery is a goner. It seemed to charge, and it didn't burn my house down, but after several hours it isn't showing anything. I was able to find a manual online, but no sign Tekkeon is still in business.

I need to record audio from a workshop and I have access to AC so not a problem. Now to find a manual for the Marantz PMD671. It seems I have a recording of my old blues band on the memory card. Have to try and extract that.

Thanks,
Roger

Noticed a split in one of the battery cases so time to dispose of. Guess I'll need to catch up on what is new out there for powering a V2 and PMD671 in case I decide to tape again!

Yeah, I had a similar experience with an old MP3450 that was in storage for years. Plugged it in and it immediately expanded the case (!!) It's absolutely not worth trying to revive old batteries these days.

Checkout the Talentcell batteries that many are using for powering 12v devices a la V2, V3, etc. There are a variety of options, some with 9v and 12v outputs, also USB as in the link. User tgakidis can hook up the cabling necessary.

Hi Roger,

I have one MP3450 that I don't use.  It's been sitting in a closet for a couple of years.  I turned it on this morning, and to my surpise, the green light came on.  Which means its still holding a charge.  PM me if you're interested.
