Sony PCM A-10 setup external mic?
« on: August 05, 2025, 01:45:38 AM »
Hi. I have a Sony PCM A-10. Recently got a DPA 4060 mic. Only problem is that when I plug it into the PCM, nothing. Hit record and just static. Same thing when I try it with my battery box. What is my newb self doing wrong?

Do the level meters move while you're recording?

Have you tried recording with the built in mics?

DPA microphones require at least 5V of plug-in power to function properly, but the Sony only provides 3V. To record without a battery box, consider purchasing a Deity PR-2 or Marantz PMD620.

Note: When using the battery box, make sure to turn the plug-in power OFF.
