PCM-M10
« on: September 02, 2025, 04:29:27 AM »
I have a PCM-10 that I've had for years, but I haven't used in a bit. I thought you could change the file size. I want to set it for MP3 128 with a 64 G card in it and just let it go while I'm away. I thought for sure I could change the file size, but I don't see where or I am mistaken. It seems 2G file size is it. I'd like 500MB.   Thanks Much.

Sony PCM-M10 will record as 44.1 MP3 at 128 kbps

Press MENU button
My Japanese language version of the machine has a menu item which translates to RECORDING MODE, which is the first option when I press the menu button.
If it's not the default, use the FF/REW controls to navigate the cursor to it, then press the PLAY button
You should be presented with a list of possible modes, including LPCM with rates from 22.05 - 96 kHz, or the MP3 modes, including one at 128.

That's not what's being asked, they're asking about the file size.

Looks like it is set to 1 GB for MP3, so that's closer to your desired 500MB. I'm just reading manual, I don't have one of these.

DPA4061 HEB -> R-09 / AT943 -> CA-UGLY -> R-09
AKG CK63 -> nBob actives -> Baby NBox -> R-09/DR2d
AKG CK63 -> AKG C460B -> Zoom F8/DR-680MKII
Line Audio CM4/Superlux S502/Samson C02/iSK Little Gem/Sennheiser E609/Shure SM57 -> Zoom F8/DR-680MKII (multitracked band recordings)

D'oh. Sorry to distract. At least I was able to confirm that it will do 128.

I don't think there's a setting to change the file size break.

I support the notion of using the machine however you can.
Set it up and let it run.
I hope the file size is not a big problem for ya,
