What shock mount for Schoeps CMC1 in 2025?
« on: October 19, 2025, 06:09:36 PM »
I'm recording interviews of performers next week, which is unusual. So, Schoeps CMC1-MK41 on a handheld mic boom + Schoeps grey foam + Chopped lightweight XLR.

What shockmount do I want?  Cinela's not in the budget for one day of shooting. Rycote and now Radius ($$) make them, but you all seem to know the product line and what can be gotten away with. Some of the single lyre setups I see pictured here look amazing...

Has anyone tried the Line Audio shockmounts on Schoeps CMC1?  They're both 20mm mics. Pretty tight fit and don't want to scratch up my schoeps, though.

Does the Rycote rub off the Schoeps grey finish?

Aren't they just the standard k&m 85035 mic clips?  They fit 17-21mm, so should be fine for schoeps, but with zero shock protection.

Random musing regarding Nextel grey. If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably go with the nickel finish on my Schoeps gear.

I say this based solely upon my suspicions that the nickel is probably a more durable finish than the Nextel gray paint.

Line audio ships with K&M but they also sell various shockmounts like the old CMEH and a new one. I have these. Tight fit on Schoeps and I don't know how well they work as I usually don't have much in the way of shock to worry about.

I use radius lyres and your base mounts for them.
Schoeps DMS (mk41v/mk4v/mk8) - DPA 4015gs - Sennheiser Ambeo - Nohype SRM-1 - Sennheiser 416T
Sonosax AD8+/R4+ - Lectrosonics SPDR - Tascam FR-AV2 - Deity PR2 - DPA MMA:A

+1 on Radius. I have replaced most of my Rycote mounts with their products. I like the RAD Field Edition low-profile mounts. For CMC 1 I would go with RAD-2 dark green hoops.

Is this the one:

It looks nice, though Radius are not the cheaper alternative to Rycote I hoped that they would be when they announced their product line. Cheaper alternative to Cinella, maybe.

This is the set I have (actually mine are an early release and included slightly different things). As long as you don't need vertical pivot or can handle that another way, this set looks much better and is a far better value given that you get 3 compliance levels of hoops included for each mount.

Ha -- the stock photos show a line audio CM4.  Looks like a nice set.

Yes, but the black hoops are far too stiff for it! I actually use one of the black hoops with a CM3/CM4/OM1. If you are using a pair of hoops on those mics, you want the softest green ones.

A pair of black RAD-2 are what I use for heavy mics like my 4006, although usually I'm using the gray hoops as they sag just a bit but isolate better. Eventually I want to get black and gray RAD-1 hoops that will have a bit more compliance without the extra bracing even though the material is the same shore hardness as the equivalent RAD-2 hoops.

So I realized that I actually have a Rycote Invision mount with two  "72 blk - 82 gry" lyres. I assume these are too firm to use a pair of these lyres for a single CMC1 mic. But, would a single one of them be the correct "solo lyre" to hold a CMC1/MK5, similar to how you're using one RAD lyre?

The single 72 Lyre might work. I think the 82 would be too stiff even if only using one.
