Wasn’t there a Sony Walkman type DAT that was something odd, like 14 bit?

Never heard of 14 bit on a DAT deck, just 16 and 12.

There were a few models of DAT which could run the tape at double speed to get higher resolution in bits or sample rates. They were rare and probably only used in a recording studio.
