Wooden LDC mounts?
« on: November 08, 2025, 04:16:07 PM »
Hey all, just wanted to see what you think. These have been working real nice for me, without the 100$ price tag and lead time that I was up against with SRS, don't get me wrong, Scott's products are amazing. Anyhow, I am using these with a Rycote INV-7 mount, and the wight (about 700g) is just fine. Super easy setup and breakdown. Looking for feedback on the designs. These are very inexpensive to make, and if someone out there would like one made up, maybe for 414's I would be up for making it. Right now, I have forsner bits in 22mm and 24mm, Austrian Audio is 22, the Lewitt's which I am bout to go run for the first time in stereo today are 24mm. I spray them with truck bed liner after completion. The most interesting thing for me is how balanced they are, and also the square section of the mount keeps the bar perfectly vertical, instead of the weight being a reason for them to slip on the mount.  Also, they are 12" long, with center points at 10" for PAS/NOS. I am also going to add holes at 8" for DIN. Anyhow, been thinking about posting my work and here it is.

This is genius. Nice work!

Don't store the unfinished wood with your mics (moisture).

nice work, btw.

quick question, how do you fix the orientation of the LDCs?  is there a screw locking bolt below or just using the weight of them

So, the hole size is perfect for the shanks of them. They sit nice in there, with no wiggle room, but the angle is infinitely variable. For me that is a plus as I am usually a PAS fan. I may try to incorporate some angle indicators on my next one.
