Topic: mic stand bag?

Hello,

First off I'd just like to thank everyone on this site for their help over the last couple months.  Even though I haven't posted anything, I've taken loads of great advice from these boards, you guys have saved me a lot of frustration.  I just put a new rig together that I am using for concert taping, sound FX collection, and nature recording.  I have a 15' AEA 15b stand that I need some kind of carrying case for.  I've looked at some tripod bags but most of them have been too bulky, or are built for carrying additional gear.  I use a lowepro bag for the rest of my stuff, so I need a bag that only holds the stand, is relatively rugged, and light weight.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.

If you have time.  You might search some horse supply sites for a tail bag.  I expect they're about the same price but may be more compact as they have no extra storage space.

at times I have use the bag from my camping chair...works fine and was at hand.

honestly, I kind of like walking away from a venue downtown at night, with a 3 foot section of metal in my hand...but hey, thats just me

nobody ever fucks w/ me when i have my stand and half the time i have to walk through crackhead central to get to my car.

I use a lacrosse stick bag. Don't know about rugged, but it's definitely lightweight and not bulky...

there was but they were orig. fabric coverd tubes for posters...not very durable for our use imho......

Thanks for getting back to me so fast.  The sonicase stand bag would be the best, but Sonic Sense discontinued all of their sonicase products earlier this year, so that's not really an option.  My problem istn't really taking it to venures, I'm more concerned about taking it into the field for nature/FX stuff.  I'll keep looking around and let you guys know if I find anything.  Thanks again for all of your suggestions.

I also know of some folks who got some PVC the size of the stand, and capped it with screw tops at both sides...and attached a shoulder strap...seemed to work  well, especially for flignts and the ability to check it...

That's a great idea with the PVC pipe.  I was actually looking at the hard travel case that I use for my fly rod and thinking to myself that something similar would be perfect.  I'll give it a try this weekend.  Thanks.
