friggin digital disortion!
« on: August 13, 2004, 03:24:04 PM »
ok when I transfered my cure detroit tape yesterday and I just split it from CD Wave and I burned it to a disc it was a like digitalized... you know where is kinda sounds wierd I don't know how to explain it..? it sounds fine on my computer speakers and on my headphones when listening from the computer but then when I burn it to cd it sounds like shit!? do I need to defrag my computer? this is a really good recording and I want to get it to damn cd-r... is it becasue I am using Goldwave? I did raise the volume a few... but this has also been going on in some of my transfers from analouge and MD too. and those masters are fine? is it time to defrag? I have been hearing people on this board to tell them to defrag. why? please I want to get this awsome tape out!!!!

don't know if it will help w/ your problem, but...why not ask your computer if it needs to defrag?

it's been a while, and i'm over due, but i think when you start the program it tells you if it's a good idea or not.

defraging can never hurt,  what kind of cables \ sound card \ imput are you using?

check connections and cables.   check sample rates  cds are 44.1 dats might be 48k or 32 khz ...  a 48\ 32khz cd would be bad.

I am using just some 1/8 inch male connector from my line out on my D8 to my line in on my Realtek C97 soundcard.

I used to not have this problem where this happens but it seems to be doing it now for the past 3 weeks. I tried ripping my masters a few that I needed to rework and they are screwed... I have no idea and they sound fine on the tape.

you might wanna look into a digital soundcard  (not soundblaster!)

barring that  you might also consider sending the master to someone with a digital xfer station  and have them run a few cds for you.
better to keep the transfer all digital anyways.  you could probably rent a second dat  or two  or a dual deck  and clone the tapes ahead of time before sending the masters out if you were worried about them...
