Nero disc burnin' failure
« on: August 30, 2004, 12:42:41 AM »
I have tried a couple different softwares to burn disc w/ my pc and have made alot of coasters runnin' them on my pc. I think the problem is my cd drive that came w/ my pc and that it was set to burn on the maxium 48x. I went to properities and set the max of cd drive to 4x but am still ending up w/ failed disc. I am cuurently runnin' Nero and am searchin' for a prefence or setup where I can tweak my drive more so I have no failed disc. I just found out today out of frustration that my supposely failed disc actually works fine in my cd player. What the hell is goin' on? Any help sure would ease my stress level and I could burn disc in peace just like I do on my Imac runnin'  Toast. Thanks in advance.
Peace
Oh, I have to master shows on my pc w/ JB3>creative>cdwav>audicity>CDR so my mac is not a option w/ my own shows or bit and torrents.

Well, I'm hardly a pro in these matters, but sounds exactly like what was happening to me a few months back. Whilst it would come up with 'burn failed' ..half the CDs did work, but nero wouldnt close the sessions, so you could open them on the comp, but not in a standalone player, and Nero wouldnt let you close the sessions after the disc burnt. Diagnosis, fucked burner...might be time for a new one :(

I can close the session and the disc rejects and all. Nero says the disc failed but I play it on my pc and home cd player and it works fine so far.

i will state that i am no expert with nero, but i have a feeling that your problem is related to discs.  for a long time, i was getting downgraded from 16x burning to 4x with no apparant reason.  so i thought my drive was shot too, but then it ends up being that the discs that i was using was the real problem.  every single BnP that I've gotten flys at 16x, with stnd silver discs.  I was using a nice 80min KLONE, that must not have been rated for anything over 4x.

just one thing to think about, good luck!

I don't think this is it!! Because I burn disc also w/ a acom external cd burner w/ my Imac and I get pretty good speeds w/ the same disc. Just for the record I use TDK 80 for my CDR that I score from Costco.I think my pc came w/ a crappy internal disc drive and I probally need to upgrade soon. By the way its a mid price range HP that I also scored from Costco.

Well, why not hook up the external to the PC or do you not have the right interface on that machine?

CD-RW drives are as expensive as spindles of 50 nowadays, why not go out to best buy or your favorite technology store and try that? Worst case is you'll know immediately if the drive's your problem and if it isn't you can return the one you just purchased...
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."
