« on: September 14, 2004, 06:06:27 PM »
Hey every one I am a taper that uses a powerbook g4 for tapeing and hate that the batterie lasts like 3 hr. I went looking for a good batterie that last longer . I find one here is the link http://www.macmall.com/macmall/search/search.asp?search=powerbook+batteries&submit1.x=14&submit1.y=7&CurDSN=simple&calledfrom=1&incimage=on . I hope that I could be of some help to all of you.

Yeah the NCharges are pretty well known (I own one). ;)  There are a few other solutions as well.

John, curious what you use...I may toy around with taping with our dual-USB iBook this fall if I can get a decent battery...

I use to tape with my iBook using the NCharge.  I should probably sell the NCharge since I don't do any laptop taping anymore...

What is a good setup for recording to a powerbook?

Is it possible to take a mic straight into the phono jack, or would it be best to run it through something like a mini-me or us-122 first?

I use a UA-5 and love it.  I don't know if it would work with out a pre.  Take a look at the ua-5 dose not cost a lot and works grate. It can even  do 24. I hope that I could be of some help.

I just use my powerbook and send it into sleep and switch batteries at set break.  It's pretty rare I see someone play for 3 straight hours.  even then I tend to run a backup dat tape.  better to have some tape than no tape at all.
