JB3 batteries
« on: September 21, 2004, 04:19:49 PM »
I was wondering about the internal batteries. I recorded (ok Todd recorded :) ) a few bands at Red Rocks on Sunday. Should I completely discharge the batteries before recharging? I'm used to SLA's so any advice on these batteries would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia

It's a lithium ion battery which prefers partial charge, according to battery university http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm

So about the nomad batteries, has anyone tried the non-creative flavor? It looks like they run about half the price of the "creative" ones. It looks like they stuck a darned sticker on there to make it branded. I'm tempted to tear it off and see what is really down there!

never heard of the knock off jb3 batts. link?   i run a SLA backed up by two internals.

li-ion's are fairly resistant to memory/over charge/full drain situations.  most cell phone batts are li-ion and treat them like crap and have never had a problem.

Tim:

are the batteries brand new?  If so, probably makes sense to completely cycle them to empty a few times to break 'em in.  BTW, "empty" is VERY relative as the jb3 will only discharge the batteries to a level they're "comfortable" with being discharged to.
