CRAAAAAAAAAAAP. (Static!)
« on: October 09, 2004, 06:52:29 PM »
i wore my mics for Vertical Horizon last night, and most of Stroke 9's set and pieces of Vertical's is allllllllllllllllllll static. like, one channel drops, etc.  I had the dat/box in my purse and stood as still as I could :) but there's still evidently static.

We're going to track out my PMB set, when the mics and dat were stationary.

IF the static doesn't occur, should it be a safe bet I should send in my mics (SP-BMC-1) to get them checked/fixed? should I just do it anyway since this is my only 2 week period I won't need mics (but I will by 10.26)... is that rushing too much? :/

My m1 was purchased new in May of this year so I'm doubting it's that...

I use a SPSB-2 battery pack and the 9v is STILL rollin hot (ow, says my tongue).

*goes off to grumble a bit, halfheartedly.. probably my fault there's static*

i don't know too much about stealth gear, but it sounds to me like you have a loose or bad wire somewhere in the chain.  when you do your testing, try to jiggle the wires at every connection and soldering point.  it sounds to me like you have a bad connection or solder somewhere, so maybe doing this will help you to isolate the problem.  good luck!

so you went analog in ???

i used to tape mics>d-8 and had similar problems, its just really hard to keep that analog connection in, its very finnicky, at least on the d-8 it was...

hope its nothing major :)

SPSB-2 only has the 1/8" out, same with the SP-BMC-1 mics. I don't have any other equipment.... i'm just a taping whore, not a gear whore.. *laughs*

thanks for the ideas jeff, we'll try those out later. we're trying to get my friend's cat to meow loudly into my mics so i can use that at the end of all my shows as a watermark. bwahhahaha.

Just curious why you stealthed?? Or is that the only rig you have??? What show are you going to on the 26th? I may be able to lend you mics if you send your's back to get looked at.

How was the show by the way?

I rode the metro and since my stand doesn't have a Tbar on it, why bother lugging it everywhere? Also, yes, this is my only rig. I primarily do small venues and bands that either don't allow taping so i have to stealth, or bands that DO allow but I'm USUALLY working merch, so I hate setting up a stand to leave it. :(

Plus, honestly, more tapes I "wear my rig" to sound better. usually. :)

i have shows every night from 10-26 through halloween. :X

and bean: yup, and one's a foster kitty. he's adorrrrable.

Ya, sounds like a bad solder joint somewhere. I was taping Drums and Tuba at a coffee shop last spring and one of the solder joints came undone and it just made a staticy noise... Sorry I cant be of more help.

actually, it's quite helpful.

also, finding out that one of my channels is almost CONSISTANTLY higher throughout the entire show is too. i'm thinking definite loose wire. wouldn't hurt to have em checked.

+T FOR ALL!

ed: Oh, btw: SHOW WAS FUCKING AWESOME. i like the 930 club very much, very much. I taped from the balcony hanging onto the rail, if it's a U, i'm in the lower left hand part of the U on that balcony. I hate heights but i managed to hang on for all 2 hours.. with pretty good results. :0
