come with cardiod caps and a pair of pattern converters to make them hypers. good durable mics, easy to use. can run on 9v batteries directly into a deck w/ attenuators if you wanna keep the rig very simple and basic.

According to NomadWorld's Jukebox Zen Xtra features and specs it can't record.  Unless I'm missing something.

The Jukebox 3 is the model used to record for our purposes. They are discontinued, but you can still get them through Creative on ebay as new and or refurbished units.
What are you looking to spend? Will you be stealthing, or just open taping?

I belive those models are solid-state devices (ie they don't use a hard drive, like iPod, JB3, etc) and as such hold <1 GB which mean their recording capabilities must include some sort of compression (ie they record to mp3, not wav). Correct me if I am wrong guys.  If you are planning on not spreading, that that'll be fine, but I think they are just as expensive as refurbished/overstock JB3
Creative is selling overstock and refurbished on ebay for $150 US. Not bad.
