after seeing the fail rate of many of the microdrives i wont touch the darn things for dslr use.  dunno about them for recording use.

I'd ditto your sentiments...

Nothing like coming back from a wedding shoot, and finding your microdrive won't spin up.  Let's see, I get 130 RAW shots on a 1GB, that would be a whole wedding, gone with the wind (at an average of 400 shots per wedding).

Same goes for a show - though there would likely be other tapers at a show, maybe even patchers off your rig, that you could grab the show from later (not as tragic as photographing a once-in-a-lifetime event)...

They work just fine - that is, until they BREAK...
