Just a quick question here. How much difference does it make (as far as sound quality), when you run toslink optical to mini optical (ua-5 to D7) instead of running toslink optical to 7-pin?

You want to go Coax > 7pin...there is no optical anything involved getting from UA5 to D7...(no optical in on D7)

You can't run UA5 toslink out > D7 mini optical input.  The D7 has a mini-stereo analog input or digital 7-pin input.

UA5 toslink out > optical 7-pin > D7 ( or coax out > coax 7-pin) will sound significantly better than UA5 analog out > mini-stereo D7 analog in.
